That Smell.....

I've stricken with New Car Fever! This is a very dangerous disease for me......I've never won the fight. Over the past few days I've test driven:

  1. 350z
  2. RX8
  3. Infinite G35 (2-door!)
  4. Corvette

Now for the worst part of it....I'm finding excuses (problems with my current Infiniti) on why I need to BUY BUY BUY!!! Simple things as, the windshield got broke during a recent trip, some butt-hole snapped the antenna off and todays reason, I think I have a slow leak in one of the tires.

Not helping matters there's my "pal" (you know who you are!): who gives me lines like

" just keep in mind.....THAT NEW CAR SMELL !!! "

Can't I go to some car parts store and purchase a can of new car smell? sniff sniff

Everyone Needs A Jonelle

Today is an absolutely beautiful day....I think that it's finally spring but it still sucks that we didn't get any snow this winter.

Today for some reason I decided that over the next few days, weeks...whatever, I'd blog about friends, family and maybe even my beloved dogs. Drawing the short straw for the first up is my friend Joan...aka: Jonelle.

I first met Joan when I was a sophomore and she was a senior in high school. We were in the same accounting class but this class was only suppose to be limited to seniors and juniors but they allowed 5 of us low-life sophomores into the class. On the 1st day of class Joan was sitting in the front row with ALL the senior guys (namely Brad M.) around her...as us low-lifes walked in she immediately pointed to the back of the room and said, "back there." We ducked our heads and moved to the back of the room. What she failed to realize at that moment was one of the sophomores was Tim B. He and I sat together the entire year and I'll never forget that 1st class when he leaned over pointed at Joan and whispered "bitch". Okay so I never told Joan that....now she knows...and by the way Joan, thanks because we sat on that back row holding hands and sneaking smooches all year long! Didn't know that either did ya! She graduated and I never saw her again until about 12 years later.....we worked for the same company. We became fast friends and have been a force to reckon with since. We've been through a great deal together, been a shoulder to lean on, an ear to bend, a friend to laugh with but most important we know that the other is there now matter what, where or how. We've survived SAP, Cathy (hehe), corporate bankruptcy and life in general. We know that the jello at Hong Kong is really not jello...but it does stick to the wall. I remember her telling me once about walking up while I was in a discussion with someone at work and that if I was ever pointing two fingers she knew not to stop and to keep on walking. I laugh now because I catch myself doing this....so now everyone knows if I'm doing a two fingered point on one hand...I'm probably pissed. Okay so I can't say to much about Joan because I could be incriminating myself......but there are/were days of fun of "lets piss Denise off".....I believe that was a hobby of ours. Shopping together is a blast...."but Patti you must get that red leather jacket to match the boots and don't forget a purse." Joan probably spends more of my money when we shop than she does her own and I'm a freaking tightwad!

Joan is my partner in crime.....it never fails when we are together no matter what we end up laughing. Never mind the number of times I've sent her emails at work and she gets stared at for laughing out loud....then she blames me...imagine that! Joan is my best pal for life and the only person who gets by with calling me Pattycakes!

Most importantly and I know that the majority of people will not understand this but Jonelle I know that "Top Gun" is always a part of your life and will always be a part of mine. "Top Gun" I love you.

Teams in Blue

It occurred to me that after all my laughter about the family antics during the basketball games, I failed to say that my Duke Blue Devils fell by the wayside to Michigan State........I was really amazed that I didn't receive an email out of Kentucky after this game.....but then again UK also felt the pains of defeat to Michigan St. on Sunday. I'm not a Michigan State fan, the only thing they have going for them is those Irish Green uniforms....(hehe)....but they are now slated to play Carolina in the final four......with that said, Go State!

Then of course there is the power of the turtles (Maryland) in the NIT....I've also been surprised that no comments have surfaced from Virginia (yes this would be Chris).....

When does hockey season start? Oh wait that was cancelled....but I have found a professional kickball team near here...SERIOUS!!!!!
World Adult Kickball Association

Rain Rain Go Away.....

if only that childhood song would work.....it's been a miserable 2 days with all the rain. Then there's the idiot in Greensboro who is getting his/her jollies out of calling in bomb threats. The airport got it twice last week and today there were 5 office locations in downtown on the receiving end. One place got it twice.....great fun for those folks having to stand in the freaking rain...my better half was one of those. With the all the government buildings downtown you'd think that would be the target.......of course the building that I'm located in...well no one would ever expect to find a government agency there....ratty & tatty are compliments for this building....

It's still raining and I guess that has just put me in a sucky mood.

It Is What It Is......

Left Wilmington around 10:30 this morning. Arrived back in time for the Carolina game (go to hell Carolina.) Duke & State both blew it Friday night and the show of all shows was perfect. You just have to imagine in your own head: 2 televisions, one with the State game the other with the Duke game, 7 people screaming at the tv's like the coach's, players and refs can hear them. Sitting on the sidelines was me watching with great amusement as the niece's "friend" got his first experience of this. At one point there was a person screaming in this ear and his look was of fear. I do realize that I shouldn't have made this young man my source of entertainment for the evening but ...well.... it is what it is.....entertainment for me. Amazingly he showed back up on Saturday, even after I advised him to run and don't look back. He's a great guy but I do wonder how he'll survive football season. I do know that it will be more entertainment for me. LOL!

Wilmington or Work?

Amazingly I've been dragging my rear out of bed at the insane hour of 4:30 am for the past few months and going into work at 6 am. Not really a bad deal since I can leave at 2:30. For those who "really" know me, they know that put the "dys" in dysfunctional in the mornings. I'm not by no means a morning person. I'm usually functional by 10 am but I've noticed lately that it's starting to inch up to 9 am. I don't want to be a morning person! I want to remain grumpy in the mornings so people will avoid me, I get lots of work done this way! See I have a plan here.

Anyways I dragged my "assets" out of bed at 4 am this morning landed at my desk at 5:30 am, worked through lunch and left work at 1:45 am heading down to Wilmington. Everyone else had the day off and was already there......I managed to avoid most of the traffic and found that the new Escape can cruise at a nice smooth 100 mph. Got behind a state trooper who was going around 90, followed him right up the off ramp and watched him jetted back down onto 40 and pull over 4 cars. Why did I follow him....because I got caught in that same trick a few years ago.

I got to Wilmington around 5 and now everyone is excited about the basketball games. Wonder if the niece's "friend" will return after tonight.

First Post .... Could be the last...

Apparently I've lost my mind! Me blogging where others can read it. Sharing my own wicked sense of humor with the world. Anyways as the world revolves now....I'm more involved in work and graduate studies than fun & games. I guess this keeps me out of the streets. Heading down to Wilmington to spend Easter weekend with family. Should me interesting having the bunch together and NCAA tourney also. Not sure if the niece's "friend" can survive this show of shows. LOL! Poor guy.
